How to Add Custom Wake up Alarm Sounds On Android
If you want to know how to change your phone’s default alarm sound into a custom wake up alarm tone, better read on. This post will teach you the basic steps on how to set up your alarm clock sound settings without relying on any third-party application.
Some smartphones have a very limited list of default alarm sounds. You can’t even choose the right sound that will make you feel awake and alert. This is why a lot of Android users prefer to customize their alarm clock tone settings by uploading their own tones.
Choosing the right file type
Before you start customizing your phone’s alarm clock ringtone, you might as well consider the type of sound file that you want to upload. In most cases, MP3 files are highly preferred but you’re also free to use files in .midi, .wav, .m4a or .ogg formats.
Setting up a custom alarm tone
Step 1: Go to your phone’s File Manager app, also referred to as the “My Files” app, and find the “Media” folder. Open this folder then press the menu key to show its list of options.
Step 2: Select the “Create New Folder” option and name that folder as “sounds”. Click “OK” to save.
Step 3: Open your newly created “sounds” folder and then create a sub-folder called “alarms”. Save this folder and go back to the main menu of your phone’s File Manager app.
Step 4: In this step, you need to select a music or sound file that you want to use as a custom alarm tone. You can usually find these files on your phone’s Music or Bluetooth folders. Copy your selected file then go back to your “alarms” folder. Paste and save the file on that folder then close your File Manager.
Step 5: Go to your Alarm Clock app. Set your alarm and customize its settings including its time, frequency and ringtone. As for the latter, you will eventually notice the new items on its list. These are the sound files that you’ve added on your “alarms” folder.
Updating your custom wake up alarm sound list
If you want to add or remove a sound from your alarm clock ringtone list, simply go back to your File Manager app and open the Media > Sounds > Alarms folder. To add a new file, simply follow the above mentioned steps. To delete a file, press the menu key and select the “Delete” button. You can also long-press the file that you want to delete and then select the appropriate command from its given list of options.
This method is quite easy to follow but if you are not familiar with the File Manager app, you might encounter some difficulties in managing your folders and sub-folders. Nonetheless, there’s no need for you to worry for as long as you follow the above mentioned steps. If you are not sure of what you are doing, better ask for help.
