By enabling your phone’s screen unlock pattern, you are making it more secured in a way that it could not be easily accessed by unauthorized users. Kids, for example, are very curious about smartphones and they might accidentally do something very troublesome. To prevent these kinds of situations, you may need to learn how to enable the screen unlock pattern on your Android phone.
Tutorial Level: Basic – Ideal for Beginners
Step 1: Go to your phone’s Settings then select the option for Location and Security.
Step 2: Scroll down until you see the menu for “Screen Unlock”. Select “Set screen lock”. You will then see a list of options – None, Pattern, PIN and Password. These options are intended for enabling or disabling your phone’s screen unlock mode. Select “Pattern”. This option will allow you to create a secret pattern by swiping your finger.
Step 3: In creating a pattern, make sure that your finger won’t leave the screen. You should also be able to connect at least four dots without lifting your finger. The more complex your pattern is, the better. Just make sure that you won’t forget your secret pattern. Confirm your secret pattern by repeating your stroke.
Note: The method of creating a pattern may vary from phone to phone. To avoid confusion, you may need to refer to your phone’s user guide manual.
Apparently, this method is way safer than merely enabling your phone’s lock screen mode.
Disabling the Screen Unlock Pattern on Android
If, in case, you want to disable or deactivate your phone’s security pattern, just go back to your phone’s Settings > Location and Security then select the option for “Change Screen Lock”. Confirm your saved pattern then select “None”. The changes will automatically take effect and you’ll be able to restore your phone’s default lock screen.
